Shutter Speed is the time while the camera's shutter curtain remains open during shoot. Professional camera's shutter speed can assumes a range of values from 1/32000 sec up to many seconds or minutes plus B (Bulb Exposure). This time is very important to determinate how much light entering the film to take a right exposure shoot. A shorter time means less light entering the film, a longher time means more light registered.

Pay attention a long shutter speed (lower than 1/60 sec) might produce the camera shake event.

Shutter speed is also used to take a creative shoot choosing a longer time to generates a sense flow of movement or using a shorter time to freeze an action.

Using a long shutter speed (1/6 sec)

Using a short shutter speed (1/1000 sec)
Using a short shutter speed (1/1000 sec)
